HiLASE cornerstone laying ceremony
On the October 9, 2012, the cornerstones of the ELI and HiLASE laser center will be laid down at Dolní Břežany. The Prime Minister Petr Nečas, the Minister of Education Petr Fiala, the President of the Academy of Sciences Jiří Drahoš, the Cardinal Dominik Duka and other distinguished guests will take part in the ceremony.
Public tender for HiLASE facility construction and infrastructure development contractor
Another important milestone in the implementation of the HiLASE project was achieved on the September 21, 2012, when the contract for work was signed with a company OHL ŽS, a.s., who won the public tender for the HiLASE facility construction and for the infrastructure development contractor.
HiLASE was present at the International Engineering Fair in Brno
In the mid-September, the 54th International Engineering Fair took place in Brno, Czech Republic. This year, the Fair was regarded as one of the best and the biggest ones in the last couple of years. HiLASE participated at the Fair as one of the exhibitors and introduced our new laser center.
The international expert panel appreciates the Scientific and Technical Design Report of the HiLASE Project
The 167-page document “Scientific and Technical Design Report” (STDR) that consists of thorough laser systems design solution proposals for both research programs was evaluated by the independent international expert panel.
The representatives of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports visited the HiLASE project
On Wednesday, August 8, 2012, representatives of the Managing authority of Research and Development for Innovation Operational Program were welcomed at the Institute of Physics AS CR.
New issue of Newsletter
In the new issue of Newsletter prepared by the partnership project ELI, one can read about advancement of protective archeological research that is presently carried out in the territory of the HiLASE project’s premises. Further, one can read an interview with Taisuke Miura.
Relay race with the British Ambassador
On Wednesday, April 18, members of the project teams ELI Beamlines and HiLASE participated in an event called “100 days until the Olympics – relay race 4×100 meters with British Ambassador Sian MacLeod.” From each organization, three volunteers participated in the relay race. On behalf of our team, Karolina Macúchová, Michal Chudožilov and Roman Švábek raced and ran 100 meters as a symbol of the 100 days remaining until the beginning of the Olympics in London. The fourth member of each relay race was a paralympian in a wheelchair. The event took place at the stadium Juliska in Dejvice, and the racers were also supported by Olympic winners Jan Železný (javelin thrower) and Kateřina Neumannová (cross country skier). Many people participated in the event and spent a pleasant evening in a sporting spirit. (Taken over from www.eli-beams.eu)

Issuance of decision on provision of grant
Prague, August 29, 2011 – Project “HiLASE: New lasers for industry and research” funded from the operational programme Research and Development for Innovations (OP VaVpl) was approved by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Minister Josef Dobeš signed a decision on the provision of a grant in the magnitude of almost 800 million CZK, 680 million CZK of which will be funded from EU structural funds (the European Regional Development Fund). The remaining 120 million CZK is co-financed from the CR state budget. The project focused on the construction of a top laser center located in Dolní Břežany that will be realized over the next four years and put into operation in 2015.
