A viable scenario to eliminate the smaller debris of LEO is to make them disintegrate by making them re-enter the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hilase.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kopie-navrhu-HiLASE-Centre-at-the-signing-of-MOU-with-the-Lockheed-Martin-Corporation.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Laser-induced ablation of the debris can help and it is important to quantify the momentum that can be imparted to the targets (debris) of different compositions in order to find the most efficient laser parameters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In the frame of the HiLASE Open Access program, such a study was performed on the HiLASE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hilase.cz\/vysokoenergeticky-nanosekundovy-laser-bivoj\/\">BIVOJ<\/a> beamline (100 J, 10 ns @ 1030 nm) between the 22<sup>nd<\/sup> of May and the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> of June 2023. This was led by Dr. S\u00e9verine A. E. Boyer from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnrs.fr\/en\">CNRS<\/a> (France), in collaboration with Dr. Claude R.
