D. student from the Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) team of the HiLASE Centre, contributed to a newly published paper in the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S002230932300577X?via%3Dihub\">Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids<\/a> <\/em>titled <strong><em>Optical, magneto-optical properties and fiber-drawing ability of tellurite glasses in the TeO<sub>2<\/sub>\u2013ZnO\u2013BaO ternary system<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>He collaborated with researchers from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mff.cuni.cz\/en\">Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University<\/a> (Stana Tazlaru, Miroslav Ku\u010dera, Luk\u00e1\u0161 Nowak, V\u00e1clav D\u011bdi\u010d, Vladim\u00edr Kopeck\u00fd, Martin Veis), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upce.cz\/en\">University of Pardubice<\/a> (Luk\u00e1\u0161 St\u0159i\u017e\u00edk, Jan Mistr\u00edk, Thomas Wagner), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubfc.fr\/\">Universit\u00e9 de Bourgogne Franche Comte<\/a> (Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric D\u00e9s\u00e9v\u00e9davy, Gr\u00e9gory Gadr\u00e9t, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Smektala), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uochb.cz\/en\">Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.natur.cuni.cz\/eng\">Faculty of Science of the Charles University<\/a> (Robin Kry\u0161t\u016ffek).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hilase.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Optical-magneto-optical-properties-and-fiber-drawing-ability-of-tellurite-glasses-in-the-TeO2\u2013ZnO\u2013BaO-ternary-system.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The presented work is focused on the optical and magneto-optical characterization of TeO2-ZnO-BaO (TZB) tellurite glasses. We investigated the refractive index and extinction coefficient dispersion by spectroscopic ellipsometry from ultraviolet, \u03bb \u2248 0.193 \u03bcm, up to mid-infrared, \u03bb \u2248 25 \u03bcm spectral region. Studied glasses exhibited large values of linear (n632 \u2248 1.91\u20132.09) and non-linear refractive index (n2 \u2248 1.20\u20132.67\u00d710\u221211 esu), Verdet constant (V632 \u2248 22\u201333 radT\u22121m\u22121) and optical band gap energy (Eg \u2248 3.7\u20134.1 eV). The materials characterization revealed that BaO substitution by ZnO leads (at constant content of TeO2) to an increase in linear and nonlinear refractive index as well as Verdet constant while the optical band gap energy decreases. Fiber drawing ability of TeO2\u2013ZnO\u2013BaO glassy system has been demonstrated on 60TeO2\u201320ZnO\u201320BaO glass with presented mid-infrared attenuation coefficient.
