Krist\u00fdna Gazdova, PhD student in the group of Ultrafast Photonics (department of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hilase.cz\/en\/vyzkumne-programy\/scientific-laser-applications\/\">Scientific Laser Applications<\/a><em> &#8211; SLA<\/em>) of the Hilase Centre, was awarded 1st prize in the <a href=\"https:\/\/slims-school.org\/awards.htm\">Best Student Presentation Award<\/a> competition at the School on Lasers in Materials Sciences (<a href=\"https:\/\/slims-school.org\/index.html\">SLIMS<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hilase.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/SLIMS-2024-Kristyna-Gazdova-won-1st-prize-in-the-Best-Student-Presentation-Award.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The award is dedicated to the memory of Professor Roger Kelly, who made many significant contributions to the field of laser-matter interaction and put great emphasis on the education of students and young researchers.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 395px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hilase.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Obrazek2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"385\" height=\"489\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>MSc. Krist\u00fdna Gazdova presenting her poster at the Venice School of Laser In Materials Sciences (SLIMS).<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Kristyna is the 5th member of the HiLASE SLA department to have received the Roger Kelly award after Dr Thibault JY Derrien (2016), Dr Sergei Lizunov (2016), Dr Chiara Liberatore (2018), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hilase.cz\/en\/slims-and-the-roger-kelly-award\/\">Dr. Martin Zukerstein<\/a> (2022).<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 623px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hilase.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Obrazek1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"613\" height=\"480\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>The SLIMS co-directors Professors Leonid Zhigilei, Maria Dinescu, and Anna Paola Caricato (left) with the winners of the Roger Kelly Award 2024.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>SLIMS is held every two years in Venice, Italy, marking its 8<sup>th<\/sup> installment in 2024. The school provides lectures from renowned professors on the multiple physical and chemical aspects triggered by laser interaction with materials and offers an informal ground for fruitful interactions between professors and students from all over the world.
