About the Position<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

HiLASE Centre is seeking a visionary and experienced <\/span>Senior Researcher<\/span><\/b> to lead a research team within the prestigious <\/span>ATLAS project<\/span><\/b> (Advanced Technologies for Laser Applications in Space). This role focuses on <\/span>Space Systems<\/span><\/b>, with strong emphasis on applications of laser systems in space.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a key member of our leadership team, you will drive scientific progress, secure funding, and lead the design and development of advanced laser-based systems with real-world applications in space technologies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What You Will Do<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

As a Senior Researcher, your key responsibilities will include:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Achieving the research objectives of the ATLAS project.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Scouting for project opportunities, project proposals preparation and consortia projects preparation and management.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Managing the research activities of both yourself and your team, ensuring respective project\u2019s goals and milestones.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Designing and implementing methods for space systems engineering, integration, and mission analysis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Identifying and securing new research funding opportunities and contributing to grant applications.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Publishing high-quality research results and presenting at international conferences.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Contributing to departmental teaching and supervising postgraduate students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Participating in knowledge exchange and industrial cooperation initiatives.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Engaging in internal management and continuous professional development activities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    We Are Looking for Someone with the following skills and competencies<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Essential Qualifications and Experience:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • PhD degree or 7+ years of equivalent work experience in physics, engineering, or a related field.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Experience in one or more of the following areas:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Image and signal processing\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Space systems engineering<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Space thermal management<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Leadership and Research Capabilities:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Proven ability to lead research projects and guide junior team members.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Strong planning and project management skills, including balancing individual and team priorities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Capacity to conduct independent research and contribute to long-term strategic goals.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Desirable:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        • General knowledge of laser systems operation and safety<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Experience with space projects realization<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Knowledge of image processing and signal processing principles<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Knowledge of free-space optical communications principles and protocols<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Experience with inter-satellite or deep-space communications<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Experience with international project preparation, particularly ESA and Horizon calls<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
