Vědavýzkum.cz: Jana de Merlier – It's not enough to just develop a technology. We want to know which problem it solves, and why

Jana de Merlier, HiLASE's strategic development manager, spoke to the Czech science portal Vědavýzkum.cz about how research and technology organisations (RTOs) work and what the Centre has learned in building one. She talked about why people matter as much as equipment, what HiLASE took away from the recent EARTO conference, and how she sees science-industry cooperation in Czechia a decade from now.

"We realised that people are the most important factor. We have excellent scientists and perfect equipment, but we need them thinking about where the technology they develop should go, not just about being first or getting a publication."
