CREATING SUPERLASERS FOR THE REAL WORLD

About Us

HiLASE Centre is a hi-tech laser research centre focused on the application of innovative laser technologies in industry, space and defence.

We are part of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, which enables us to root our applied solutions in the latest academic research and practice. We are based in Dolní Břežany, just outside of Prague, in the Science and Technology Advanced Region (STAR), surrounded by top-notch research institutions and innovative businesses that share our vision.

HiLASE Centre collaborates with leading research and industry representatives from various sectors globally – from optics manufacturing to the automotive industry. Together, we create advanced laser solutions and build long-term collaborations.

The HiLASE Centre wants to become one of the respected leaders in the application of high-power lasers. Our ambition is to be the R&D Partner of first choice for companies and research organisations looking for innovative laser technologies and solutions, both on Earth and in Space. Tomáš Mocek, head of the HiLASE Centre

Our organisation is based on four values shared by all HiLASIANS:

Tomas Mocek, Head of HiLASE Centre

Tomas received his Ph.D. in Physics from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2000. His research expertise includes development of high‐average power diode‐pumped solid state lasers for hi-tech applications, EUV sources, high‐order harmonic generation, laser acceleration of particles, dense plasma diagnostics, optical‐field ionization, X‐ray lasers, and spectroscopy of laser plasma. He has authored/co-authored more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals with impact factor, which acquired over 2500 citations. He was awarded by the “Prize of Josef Hlávka” in 2000, and by the “Otto Wichterle Award” in 2005.
