Momentum-dependent intraband high harmonic generation in a photodoped indirect semiconductor

HiLASE Centre researcher Thibault J.-Y. Derrien (team leader of Ultrafast Photonics) contributed to a study conducted by a team from Charles University on high harmonic generation in silicon, published in Communications Physics, a journal of Springer-Nature.

Momentum-dependent intraband high harmonic generation in a photodoped indirect semiconductor

Using high harmonic spectroscopy, the paper exemplifies the role of electron relaxation mechanisms and how the light-triggered electron dynamics can vary with the choice of ultrashort laser parameters.

Application of this research can be found in increasing efficiency of light frequency conversion, in designing new opto-electronic components, and in developing precise analysis tools, e.g., for reverse engineering.
