The HiLASE Center is divided into four groups: two research departments and two support departments.
Advanced Laser Development pushes past the technological boundaries of pulsed laser systems. Industrial Laser Applications bring these systems into the real world: industry, space, and defense. The Project Management and Engineering and Technical Support departments do everything in their power to keep the research departments running like Swiss watches—from processing grant applications to prototyping new components.

We believe that learning is a never-ending process. That is why we provide our employees with the space and resources they need for professional and personal development. We educate ourselves on the latest trends in science and industry, but we also learn to communicate smoothly, manage our calendars, and assign tasks effectively.
Networking our way
Both within and outside the Center, we value open and honest communication and like to stay informed about our colleagues' successes. We meet at regular briefings, strategic meetings with partners, or international trade fairs.
Science popularisation
Science is our passion—and that's why we always enjoy sharing it with the public. Twice a year, we open the doors of the Center as part of International Day of Light and Researchers' Night, and we always prepare an educational but entertaining program for visitors.
Teambuilding
We care about our team, which is why we go on a team-building trip every year. We leave the lasers in the lab and head out into nature for a few days. Themed activities and sports are a must!
Free time
When we're not working, we like to play sports: we go together to play volleyball, foot volleyball, badminton, and then, of course, for a beer.
