Popularisation of Science
At the HiLASE Centre, we strive not only to make science more attractive to the general public, but also to inspire talented young people to get more involved in science and research. That is why we organize a series of events for primary, secondary school and university students, as well as for the public.
We regularly organise a number of open days for the general public, on occasions such as the Researchers Night, the Week of the Academy of Sciences, or the International Day of Light. During these, you can take a look behind the scenes, attend entertaining lectures or visit one of our experimental halls.
Among other things, we also organise two competitions for talented high school students, Talent Academy and Science Challenge, in cooperation with the ELI Beamlines Facility. However, we also try to get even the youngest researchers excited about science, for example through excursions for schools. You can find out more about what we can offer students and graduates HERE.
Last but not least, we also run an educational website Czechlasers.cz, where you can learn many interesting things about lasers and optics.

Talent Academy
Every year, the HiLASE Centre and the ELI Beamlines Facility in Dolní Břežany offer high school students the opportunity to join the Talent Academy programme and experience working as scientists in professional laboratories. In this unique way, we are helping to inspire and nurture the next generation of researchers. For the best Talent Academy participants, the centres offer follow-up collaborations in the form of internships, during which students engage in real scientific projects alongside leading laser physicists.

Science Challenge
The younger sibling of the Talent Academy is another competition for talented high school students, the Science Challenge. Unlike Talent Academy, this one is designed for pre-formed groups of three high school students (and one teacher) who are determined to come up with a solution for laser automation, conduct an experiment, evaluate the data, and present their results to experts.

Open days at the HiLASE Centre
During open days, typically occurring several times a year, you can take a look behind the scenes of the HiLASE Centre. Visitors can enjoy interesting lectures, guided tours and playful activities for the little ones. Visit us on the occasion of the next International Day of Light, Researchers' Night or the Week of the Academy of Sciences.

Researchers' Night
The HiLASE Centre has traditionally been involved in the Night of Scientists, a unique scientific popularization event that opens the doors of scientific institutions and universities for one evening a year and introduces scientists and the importance of their work for our society. The event is usually held in late September or early October.

Our scientists as elementary school teachers
We care about the local community, which is why scientists from the HiLASE Centre turn into teachers several times a year to introduce the basics of optics to the pupils of the primary school in Dolní Břežany, where the HiLASE Centre is located.

HiLASE Centre and the Week of the Academy of Sciences
The Week of the Academy of Sciences is the largest science festival in the Czech Republic and the HiLASE Centre, of course, can't be one to miss it. Open days for schools and the public are usually held at the beginning of November.

The Science Fair
Every June you can meet us at the Science Fair at the Letňany Exhibition Centre in Prague. Visitors can expect countless novelties and attractions from the world of science, technology and innovation. You will find the HiLASE Centre at the joint stand of the Institute of Physics of the CAS. You can enjoy, for example, the opportunity to become an action hero in a laser maze, or some fun optical experiments and optical illusions.

Dozens of videos about physics for students
The Institute of Physics has prepared a website for schoolchildren students, where you can find dozens of videos and other materials about physics. We hope it will make it easier for students to grasp the topics!
