HiLASE Enters a New Era - A Brand and Website Redesign Reflecting the Future of Laser Technologies
Technology evolves. Research evolves. Industries evolve.
And brands that want to remain relevant must evolve with them.
Over the years, the HiLASE Centre has grown far beyond its original role as a research institution focused primarily on laser development. Today, HiLASE represents a dynamic environment where cutting-edge science meets real-world industrial applications, international collaboration, and emerging technological challenges shaping the future of Europe and beyond.
This transformation naturally called for a new visual identity and a redesigned website - one that better reflects who we are today, where we are heading, and how laser technologies are increasingly becoming part of critical industries including manufacturing, space, defense, AI, and automation.
The new HiLASE brand is not simply a cosmetic redesign. It is a strategic step forward.
Why change the brand identity?
The previous visual identity supported HiLASE through an important phase of growth. But as the Centre expanded internationally and entered new application areas, the need for a stronger and more distinctive identity became clear.
The redesigned logo introduces a circular element symbolizing the laser beam, precision, movement, energy, and optical systems. Its cleaner and more dynamic visual language reflects HiLASE’s high-tech and future-oriented direction.
The name itself reinforces this positioning - “hi” evokes high power, while “LASE” directly connects to lasers, photonics, and advanced applications across science, industry, and space.
Like laser light itself, the new identity is designed to feel precise, focused, and constantly moving forward.

A visual identity aligned with new strategic directions
The rebranding is closely connected to the evolving strategic focus of HiLASE and its expanding application portfolio.
Today, HiLASE is focused on the following key application areas:

These areas require a stronger and more mature communication framework capable of addressing industrial partners, European institutions, researchers, technology companies, and international stakeholders alike.
The new identity reflects this shift toward broader impact, applied innovation, and technological leadership.
It also aligns with the Centre’s updated strategic framework:
PURPOSE
Enabling real-world impact through laser technologies.
MISSION
Delivering laser solutions for industry, space and defense.
VISION
Shaping the future of high-power laser technologies.
This messaging marks an important transition - from communicating primarily about research itself toward communicating about impact, applications, and practical technological value.
