In June 2025, another edition of the Day with Lasers and Photonics took place—an event that brings the fascinating world of light-based technologies closer to high school students every year. The HiLASE Centre once again joined as one of the main co-organizers and offered participants a truly unique experience.
The morning program was packed with engaging lectures by laser experts. Dominika Jochcová represented the HiLASE Centre and introduced the cutting-edge pulsed laser system BIVOJ. She also took part in a panel discussion where she answered curious questions from the students.
Students from across the Czech Republic then had the rare opportunity to peek behind the scenes of top-tier laser research. And not only that—they were granted access to areas that are usually off-limits to the public: the experimental halls of the HiLASE Centre, where researchers work with high-power lasers and develop technologies of the future for applications in industry, space, and defense.
Guided by Filip Čáp and Lucie Ferstová, the students explored experimental halls dedicated to Laser Shock Peening—a technology with applications in fields such as energy and the automotive industry. Juraj Sládek, on the other hand, presented the possibilities of laser micromachining, used for creating functional surfaces with water-repellent, antibacterial, or hydrophilic properties.
We are proud that the HiLASE Centre was part of this inspiring event once again and that, together with other participating institutions, we managed to deliver an experience that may very well shape the future paths of many young talents.
