Open Access options

Since 2017, scientists can apply for Open Access beamtime at the HiLASE Centre. Beamtime is free of charge.

Most of the beamtime was funded from Laserlab-Europe, but the beamtime allocation was fulfilled and there will be no more beamtime funded from Laserlab-Europe from 2024.

If you want to apply for beamtime at HiLASE, you have the following options:

Lasers4EU (to be launched on 1.10.2024)
Re-MADE
RIANA

Lasers4EU

Successor to Laserlab-Europe will be launched on 1.10.2024. You can apply with any project utilizing lasers. There will be continuous call access, so you can submit the proposal at any time and it will be evaluated several times per year. The only limitation of Lasers4EU is the Transnational Access policy, where the majority of the applicant’s team must be from different country than the facility providing beamtime.

ReMade

Supports projects connected to circular economy. Circular economy is a model of production and consumption that focusses on designing products that are more durable, reusable, repairable and recyclable to extend their lifetime and reduce waste.
You can submit a pre-proposal to receive feedback from Smart Science Cluster and enhance the full proposal that can be submitted several times per year. See the calls schedule.
The limitations of Re-Made are the Transnational Access policy, where the majority of the applicant’s team must be from different country than the facility providing beamtime, and it is required to select and utilize at least two techniques in a single proposal.

RIANA

Horizon Europe funded project that assists research in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
You can submit a pre-proposal to receive feedback from Science Service and enhance the full proposal that can be submitted anytime. Learn how to apply.
The limitations of RIANA are the Transnational Access policy, where the majority of the applicant’s team must be from different country than the facility providing beamtime, and it is required to select and access at least two facilities in a single proposal.
