Do you want to be at the birth of cutting-edge AI solutions for laser systems and photonics? At HiLASE Centre, we are looking for an AI Specialist who is not afraid of challenges across disciplines. Your work will be a combination of developing advanced machine learning models, deploying them in real-world environments, and working closely with experts in lasers, optics, and physics.
What’s in store for you and what you’ll be responsible for:
- Development of ML/DL solutions: design and optimization of models for image processing and support of diagnostics and control of laser systems.
- End-to-End AI integration: design of the overall solution from data acquisition (ETL) to deployment and monitoring of models.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration: close collaboration with physicists, optics, and systems management experts.
- Development in the context of photonics: design of algorithms respecting physical constraints and experimental conditions.
- Performance optimisation uses numerical methods for tuning model behaviour and system parameters.
We are looking for someone with these competencies and skills:
- Machine Learning & Deep Learning
Experience in designing, training, and deploying ML/DL models – especially for image processing. Good knowledge of PyTorch, TensorFlow libraries, and machine learning principles. - Programming and Scripting
Strong Python skills, experience with libraries such as NumPy, OpenCV, SciPy. Ability to write maintainable and efficient scientific code. - ETL and data pipelines
Knowledge of data engineering – developing pipelines to work with large volumes of data (including image data from experiments). - Interdisciplinary collaboration
Communication and collaboration with experts in physics, optics, and engineering. Ability to co-create robust solutions. - Problem-solving and adaptability
Ability to quickly navigate new topics, design and test solutions for specific research challenges. - Critical thinking and systems approach
Analysis of complex problems and design of overall value-added AI systems. - Communication and Teamwork
Ability to communicate clearly, document work, and contribute to a positive team atmosphere. - Innovative attitude
Openness to new technologies, willingness to experiment and seek progressive solutions.
