International Day of Light 2023

We would like to invite you to join our celebration of the International Day of Light. The date of 16th of May commemorates the famous day in 1960 when the American physic and engineer Theodore Harold Maiman presented the first laser to the world.

The HiLASE Centre (Institute of Physics) is going to celebrate it on Saturday the 20th of May. You can be looking forward to seminars, workshops, games and other activities. Please follow our website and social networks for more details.

PROGRAMME:

  • 16:00 | Lecture Lasers in Space (in CZ) | Ondřej Stránský | PERLA seminar room | We recommend to make a reservation.
  • 17:00 | Guided tours of the HiLASE Centre in ENGLISH | Together with our guides, you will have a glimpse into the experimental halls. Suitable for children from 10 years old. We recommend to make a reservation.
  • 15:00 – 19:00 | Additional program | Schlieren system – how to see the invisible | Painting on pebbles | Create your own badge or magnet | Laser safety | Light laboratory – optical experiments for everyone – starting at 15:00 and every 30 minutes.

By bus l.333 from Kačerov (metro C) or l.341 from Nádraží Modřany to Dolní Břežany, obecní úřad.

By car –  Za Radnicí 828, Dolní Břežany – parking in front of the HiLASE Centre (parking fee).
