The Laser Safety for Industrial Applications workshop took place at the HiLASE Centre AV21: Light at the Service of Society

On Wednesday the 1st of November, a Laser Safety for Industrial Applications workshop took place at the HiLASE Centre.

Aside from HiLASIANS Martin Smrž (head of Advanced Laser Development) and Jan Vanda (team leader of LIDT), the programme also included talks by Professor John Tyrer and Dr. Lewis Jones from Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering of Loughborough University, UK. They spoke on the topics of hazards of fumes generated by laser material processing, as well as laser safety for laser welding and cleaning. The workshop was concluded with space for networking.

Thank you so much for this opportunity to present some of our work in laser safety. I really appreciated the networking with HiLASIANS and other workshop attendees and hope we can establish some exciting research links going forward,“ says Professor John Tyrer about the workshop.

The workshop was coordinated by the HiLASE Laser Safety Officer, Helena Vohníková, as part of the activities of the AV21 research programme Light in the Service of Society.
