Dr. Sunil Pathak will be delivering a keynote address at the i-smart 2022 conference Laser Shock Peening: Improving Quality of Metallic Parts

We would like to cordially invite you to the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable materials, Manufacturing and Renewable Technologies (i-SMaRT) and join the online keynote address of our colleague Dr. Sunil Pathak: “Laser Shock Peening: Improving Quality of Metallic Parts”.

WHEN: 26th May 2022 | 10:30 am GMT+2
REGISTRATION: www.ismartconference.in/registration

Abstract:
Laser Shock Peening (LSP) is one of the most promising post-processing method for improving the surface integrity (without any significant degradation to the surface quality) of the materials by imparting the beneficial compressive residual stress into the material surface by plastically deforming them through the high-pressure shock waves. LSP has enabled the possibility of developing a high amount of deep compressive stresses (commonly up to a few mm) which in turn results in increased materials resistance to the failures. Some of the common failures prevented by LSP are fatigue and crack propagation due to stress corrosion. The present work will be focused on presenting some of the results of laser shock peening on real-life engineering applications such as tool die, nuclear plants, and additive manufactured parts. This work will also show the capability of LSP in imparting residual stresses in different types of materials and improving their fatigue life.

ISMART 2022 - Sunil Pathak

The International Conference on Sustainable materials, Manufacturing and Renewable Technologies (i-SMaRT) is an international peer-reviewed annual academic conference. The 2nd in series, the i-SMaRT 2022 is organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Federal Institute of Science and Technology in association with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand, and is held from 25 May to 27 May 2022 at the Federal Institute of Science And Technology (FISAT)®, Kerala, India.

i-SMaRT is an ongoing attempt to provide a forum for high-quality academic papers and to promote rapid communication and exchange between researchers, scientists, and engineers in the field of mechanical engineering. The conference also offers a good number of invited lectures from renowned speakers from different parts of the world. The conference will facilitate opportunities to network, collaborate and exchange ideas with renowned scientists and researchers in the field.
